Yoshida's Gourmet Sauce® was first developed in Kyoto, Japan by the Yoshida
family for preparation of meats in their restaurant. Its unique taste on dishes
like Yakitori (Grilled Chicken Kabobs) and Yakiniku (Grilled Beef Short Ribs)
turned their business into a very popular establishment. More than fifty years
later, the formula for this delicious condiment was released to the United States.
The individual was Junki Yoshida, a martial arts and defense tactics instructor
who resides in Troutdale, Oregon.
Originally, he prepared this product in his home as a Christmas gift for friends
and relatives, but constant requests all year long for the "black sauce"
indicated to Mr. Yoshida that Americans also enjoyed his family's "secret
recipe". He decided to attempt the marketing of this product in small independent stores and, with the aid of his wife, began the Yoshida in-store demo program. He believed that if customers could see and smell dishes prepared in a matter of minutes which were delicious and natural, they would become confirmed believers in his product. His philosophy of providing the customer with the finest quality, natural blended products, continues with each product manufactured.
Today the Yoshida brand is owned by Heinz USA in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Yoshida continues to sell his sauces outside those countries. In addition, Yoshida's is active in private label production and co-packing for other companies.
Mr. Yoshida is confident that with hard work, commitment and quality products Yoshida Foods International L.P. will continue to prosper.
